SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-gb:From Voice to Visual: the making of an open strategy
DESCRIPTION:Room: Lewis Suite\nTrack: Other\nOn the 17th November 2016\, Bryan Mathers (Visual Thinkery) was invited to join the ALT Trustees to facilitate a thinkathon. A thinkathon uses a free-flowing conversation method to bring out and capture reflections and expressions that are often subtle and hidden. Crucially\, it aims to give all participants an equal voice. The aim of the thinkathon was to put into practice a collegiate approach to governance\, to define and articulate a shared vision for the future of the organisation using open\, shareable assets.\n\nThe process was fairly experimental\; could we capture thoughts that could be articulated visually\, and find metaphors to allow a different dialogue to take place?\n\nThis session will unpack our journey\, and deconstruct the process and its outcomes from two different perspectives. Firstly\, one of the participants\, Maren Deepwell\, the current CEO of ALT\, and secondly the listening ear\, Bryan Mathers\, facilitator of the thinkathon. We will share how the process of the thinkathon worked\, what we did next and the overall outcome.\n\nBy attending this workshop\, you’ll hopefully be able to take away some of the elements of our creative process and have the encouragement to apply it in your own domain. Whilst the example we are sharing is specifically about ALT\, the approach can be translated into different contexts in education and beyond.\nhttp://oer17.oerconf.org/sessions/alt-workshop-visual-thinkery/
