Conference website and programme

Upon arrival at the venue you will receive a conference pocket guide but we encourage you to browse the programme online beforehand so that you can see the sessions you’d like to attend and make your personal schedule. To make your own schedule you will need to login using your ALT or OER17 registration credentials. Please check you can log in before the event, passwords can be reset if necessary. For more guidance on using the website and its interactive features visit our help pages. The OER17 website includes social features which let you create a profile and connect with other delegates.

Venue location and travel

The conference venue is Resource for London, 356 Holloway Road, London, N7 6PA.

All areas of the venue are fully accessible. The nearest London Underground station is Holloway Road (Piccadilly Line). A map and instructions for travel by tube or bus can be found on the Resource for London website. http://www.resourceforlondon.org/contact-us/

If you are flying please note: The UK is implementing flight restrictions on electronics (e.g. laptops and tablets) from certain countries. We recommend checking with your airline before travel.

Taxis – are readily available across London, black cabs can be hailed on the street or booked in advance. Addison Lee also offers an app which gives us a £10 discount for first use.  https://www.addisonlee.com  and Uber taxis operate in London and offer a keenly priced service that you pay for online. Registration

The registration desk is open from 09.00 to 17.00 on Wednesday and Thursday. It is important that you wear your badge throughout the conference (you are liable to be challenged by venue staff if you do not wear it). You will also need your badge to gain access to the social venue on Wednesday evening.

WiFi Internet Access

The venue is covered by two WiFi networks called ‘RFL Public’ and ‘RFL Premium’. Details for connecting to RFL Public will be displayed around the venue. RFL Premium is higher performance and details for accessing it will be contained in the printed pocket guide you receive at registration. As the networks are shared please use responsibly.

Tuesday arrivals

Note: that there is no early registration on Tuesday and no access to the conference venue.

Participants who will be arriving in London on Tuesday are encouraged to head to the Lighterman bar and restaurant, 3 Granary Square, Kings Cross, London N1C 4BH, for an informal social pre-conference meetup between 6.30 -7.30pm.  Keep an eye out for the #oer17 hashtag on Twitter for updates if you would like to join up later. https://www.kingscross.co.uk/eating-and-drinking/the-lighterman

Social evening Wednesday 5 April

This year we have a less formal social outing at Bloomsbury Bowling, Bedford Way, WC1H 9EU, http://bloomsburybowling.com/ with bowling, karaoke and pool and there is plenty of space for socialising. Drinks and canapes will be served and there is also a paid bar. There won’t be a formal conference dinner. Please arrive at 7.30pm (close at 10.30pm). Please remember your conference badge for entry.

Code of conduct

ALT is dedicated to providing a harassment free conference experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form and we ask you to be courteous and considerate to your fellow attendees. We appreciate you may not agree with the ideas or views expressed by others and whilst we encourage debate we remind you that these discussions should remain civilised. By attending this event you are also bound by the regulations and code of conduct of the venue. Participants violating any of these rules will be expelled from the event without refund.
